How Do You View Your Body?

How do you view your body? Do you take it for granted? Do you appreciate your body?

Hi, I'm Malin Svensson at Nordic body. We are a walking and fitness club for the 50 plus. Today I want to talk about how we view our bodies. Very often we forget that our body is actually a machine. We're so focused on wanting to look good and get into shape that we forget the body works like a machine. Let's try a new thought; regard your body as a machine that needs to work, that needs to function and that needs repair. Yes, it will break down at times, but if you take really good care of it, you can prevent a lot of unnecessary wear and tear. That applies of course to what you put into your machine as well. What you eat. Put premium and clean fuel into your body for optimal performance - just like a luxury car. Treat yourself like a Porsche!

The body, your machine, was made to move. That's why you have joints: ankles, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, and the whole spine. And those joints need to be lubricated. I think we can all agree when we've been sitting for a long time, we get stiff, and one reason is that there's no lubrication in your joints.

Here's a simple thing you can do - stand up and sit down a few times. You'll get most of the joints in your body lubricated and you'll feel better. Less stiff and more energized. Just make sure you keep all joints lined up to move correctly to prevent and/or decrease aches and pain. Somebody that goes to the gym and works out for one hour, but then sits on their butt all day long is not healthy. You're going to get stiff. You're not going to feel good. You're going to get tired easily. When you sit still, the blood does not circulate as well compared to if you were moving around. Why do we need it to circulate? The blood transports important ingredients to nourish every cell in your body. Now, I don't want you to feel anxious and move around all the time. Just think about your body in a different way. Besides working out and breaking a sweat, think about just moving your body. Put on some music, dance, and have some fun moving around. Honor your body. Appreciate your body. Thank your body for carrying you around all these years. So, change your perspective. Don't take your body for granted. Treat it like a super amazing machine that you want to take care of. The better you take care of your body, the better it's going to perform and that will make you very happy.

As a fitness expert for 25 years for the 50+ population, I have witnessed fantastic progress and results for people that have stayed consistent over time. I’m sure you can see how it’s all related. Weak bones, weak muscles equals pain. Strong bones, healthy muscles equals less pain and more quality of life.

According to ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), strength training should be performed at least twice a week with 8-10 different exercises that target all major muscle groups. And of course, you must do them correctly to avoid injuries. And that is exactly what the Nordic Body System is all about.

Every month you will get access to one LIVE online group workout per month with the EXPERIENCE Membership Program to get a taste of the Nordic Body System to see if it’s a good fit.
